OK, so there is no carbon content in water, and we have rather a lot of it in Wales anyway. But it does take energy to purify it to be fit for drinking, and to process the waste water and sewage. So reducing our water usage does have a bigger effect than you might think.
Get a dual flush
Toilet flushing makes up a substantial portion of our daily water use. All new toilets will have a dual flush so you only need to flush as much as you actually need, typically 3L or 6L. Older toilets may have a larger cistern (up to 14L if it’s a really old one!) and no dual flush.
Shower with less
A long luxurious high pressure shower is great but consumes a lot of water, and hot water at that. Turn down the tap and save your bills.
Get a water butt
Using highly filtered drinking water on the garden is rather wasteful and your plants will prefer more natural rainwater. A water butt stores rainwater falling onto your roof so you can fill your watering can.
