We have started a scheme to collect and recycle polythene – stretchy plastic – in church. This is one of the most commonly used plastics and kerbside recycling doesn’t usually process it, so we plan to collect it, compress it and deliver it to a local factory where it can be recycled.
Capital Valley Plastics has produced this guide to what is suitable:
As a rule, if the plastic can be stretched then it should be recyclable.
- All Items should be clean and free of food
- Please tear off any sticky labels where possible
- Compostable or biodegradable bags aren’t designed to be recycled so please do not include these.
